History of Mountain View Mennonite Church

Mountain View Mennonite Church was formally organized as a congregation on May 20, 1913, with twenty charter members. The congregation purchased an acre of land for $150.00 and began construction of a 24' x 40' building.

The new church building was dedicated exactly four months later on September 20, 1913. This building served the congregation until 1964, when construction of a new church building was completed. In the mid-90's an fellowship hall/kitchen addition was added to the west side of the church building, and the church appears now as in the picture above.

The MVMC congregation has enjoyed affiliation with several conferences over the years. Originally organized as part of the Western Amish Mennonite Conference, MVMC has also been part of the Pacific Coast Conference and Northwest Conference (Alberta-Saskatchewan). Currently, the congregation is affiliated with the Pacific Northwest Mennonite Conference.

Decsendants of many of the original families who attended church in the early years are still claimed as members by Mountain View Mennonite Church. The church has welcomed additional members from the surrounding communities of Creston and Kalispell.
